FAQ's
Frequently Asked Questions
What motorcycle will I be riding on the tour?
We use the Honda XR150L, a bike that is perfectly suited to the terrain and conditions in the Philippines. Honda has an outstanding reputation for reliability and is widely supported across the country, with hundreds of dealerships and service agents. This means help is never far away if you ever need it.
The XR150L is not the most powerful motorcycle, but it is light, agile, easy to ride and very comfortable. After a full day in the saddle, I can step off after six or seven hours and feel fresh, which is exactly what you want on a multi day adventure. The bike is also suitable for a wide range of rider heights. I am around 184 cm and feel completely at home on it, while my partner at 165 cm finds it just as comfortable.
Road conditions on the tour are generally very good, with most roads made of concrete and some sections being upgraded to bitumen. The route is winding and scenic, so average speeds are usually under 60 kph. The XR150L handles these conditions beautifully and feels very much at home here.
What is included in the tour fee?
Your tour package includes everything you need to enjoy your adventure without any hassles:
-Return internal flights between Manila and Dipolog
-All meals, three per day
-Accommodation for nine nights including your first night in Manila, all nights along the route, and your final night in Liloy
-Guided daily rides and support
-Optional extra activities such as pistol shooting or the Eagle Sanctuary visit (these may incur an additional cost)
-Snacks and after dinner beverages are at your own cost.
Do I need motorcycle riding experience?
Yes. A full motorcycle licence is required to join the tour. This is not a tour for beginners. Riders should be confident handling a motorcycle for extended distances and comfortable riding on winding provincial roads.
What documents do I need to provide?
Once full payment is received, we will book all accommodation and flights. This is required one month prior to the tour.
-During the tour, you must carry the following with you at all times:
-Your valid passport
-Your motorcycle drivers licence
What should I know about local customs and etiquette?
Filipinos are warm, friendly and welcoming, and English is widely spoken. Do not be surprised if people strike up a conversation or want to chat with you on the road or during stops as they often enjoy meeting visitors.
A few important cultural tips to keep in mind:
-Avoid swearing in public. Even if someone pretends not to understand English, they almost always do.
-Avoid public displays of affection such as kissing. It is not culturally accepted.
-Do not point with your finger. It is considered rude.
-Be polite and respectful. Filipinos respond very well to kindness and courtesy.
-Remember you stand out. You will be noticed, and people will remember interactions, so make them positive.
How many hours per day will we be riding?
Most days involve between five and seven hours on the bike, with plenty of breaks for food, scenery, stretching and photos. Comfort and safety come first, and the pace is relaxed and enjoyable.
How challenging is the terrain?
The majority of the tour is on sealed concrete and bitumen roads. There may be short sections of rough surfaces, but nothing extreme. The route is chosen to make the ride scenic rather than difficult.
What is the group size?
We keep group sizes small to maintain safety, flexibility and a more personal experience. Smaller groups also make it easier to stop, explore and interact with locals along the way.
What should I pack?
-A detailed packing list will be provided, but here are the essentials:
-Riding gear such as helmet, gloves, jacket, pants and boots. Remember to pack your helmet in your check in luggage as internal flight within the Phillipines will not allow it as carry on luggage.
-Light, comfortable clothing for off bike time
-Sunscreen, sunglasses and personal toiletries
-Any medications you require
-A small backpack or tail bag for your daily essentials
Is travel insurance required?
Yes. All participants must hold valid travel insurance that covers motorcycle riding.
Can non riders join the tour?
At this stage, the tour is designed for riders only. In the future we may offer support vehicle or passenger options.
What happens if the weather is bad?
The tour runs in most weather conditions. The Philippines can experience sudden rain showers, but they usually pass quickly. Routes and schedules may be adjusted if needed for safety.
